About Melissa

I have been on this parenting journey since 2002. Many years before that I started creating the image of the parent I wanted to be, with some success and a fair amount of failure to live up to that standard. I am here today with the experience of a person pursuing a path, getting lost, finding my way, finding another way, an easier way, always renewing my commitment to doing the best I can with the information I have.
My mission is to walk alongside you as we all become the parents we are meant to be.
“Learn to…be what you are, and learn to resign with a good grace all that you are not.”

Most importantly, I am a mother to 3 biological children. Already (gasp) in the teen and young adult phases of life.
I have worked with children consistently since I was 13 years old in many different capacities. As a babysitter, as a nanny, in daycare, preschool, as a foster parent, and as an art docent and private art teacher.
I have studied Early Childhood Education, Special Education, and Art Education.
I homeschooled my children for 4 years.
Since 2018 I have facilitated family enrichment programs. I have been trained in Strengthening Families 10-14, Incredible Years (for children ages 3-8) and Guiding Good Choices for ages 9-14. This is my professional dream come true. Something I have wanted to do since I was a very young adult.
I have been raising a child with Celiac disease since 2014. And also managing my own dietary restrictions and autoimmune disease. I am currently on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet.
In 2019 I was trained in Restorative Practices by an International Institute for Restorative Practices (IIRP) trainer.
